Prefold Starter Kit

This starter kit costs just £30, so if your local council provides an incentive scheme such as “Smartie Pants” from Bracknell Forest, you can claim a £30 payment back from the council and the kit is effectively free! If your council does not run such a scheme, the kit still represents very good value for money.

The kit comes in four sizes – small, medium, large and extra large.

Small - 8 Prefolds, 2 Wraps and 100 flushable liners
Medium - 7 Prefolds, 2 Wraps and 100 flushable liners
Large - 7 Prefolds, 2 Wraps and 100 flushable liners
Extra Large - 6 Prefolds, 2 Wraps and 100 flushable liners

You will have enough nappies to use cloth during the day, then put baby in a disposable at night if necessary while you wash and dry the nappies ready for the next day. If you like the cloth, you can buy more nappies and wraps as you need them, until you are using cloth both day and night, so you will never have to struggle back from the supermarket with huge packs of disposable nappies ever again!

The nappies and wraps can be washed at 60°C with towels, sheets, muslins etc, or even at 40°C if they have only been lightly used. There is no need to have a special “nappy wash”. Wraps can also be hand rinsed if they are not soiled. The nappies and wraps can be tumbled or line dried. I recommend line drying wraps – they dry quickly and the heat of the tumble drier can shorten the life of the wrap.
