There are three main elements to a re-useable nappy system:
Nappy
Wrap
Liner
This may sound more complicated than a single disposable, but believe me it is very easy!
The nappy is the main absorbent part, usually made out
of terry towelling.
The wrap is the waterproof cover that stops your child's clothes getting
wet.
The liner is optional, but advisable to catch the solids.
So here's the recipe....
Take one change mat and place a wrap on the mat.
Place the nappy on top of the wrap and a liner on top of the nappy.
Take one clean baby and place on top of your assembled nappy system.
Fasten the nappy round the baby followed by the wrap.
When baby has soiled the nappy.....
Place baby on change mat and undo both wrap and nappy.
If using a disposable liner, take this out of the nappy and flush away.
If using a fleece liner, drop solids down toilet and pop liner in laundry
bucket.
Put wet nappy in laundry bucket and leave wrap to air.
Clean baby's bottom and proceed as above.
Congratulations - you have successfully done your
first cloth nappy change!
