Little Ewe. The terry
squares are extremely absorbent and much thicker than those used by our
mums. Starting at £1.75 each they are very affordable and once you master
the folding you are away. They are also useful as an absorbent cover over
a public change mat!
The muslins are larger than those found on the high street, and can be
pad folded for an early days nappy or used as a general mop-up cloth.
At £11.99 for 10 they are an essential.
Modern Baby. These shaped nappies and wraps are the ultimate in simplicity and ease of use. Both the nappies and wraps have Velcro fastenings, and the wraps have recently been re-sized so that an XS and S wrap fits the size 1 nappy and the M and L wrap fits the size 2 nappy. The nappies and wraps come in gingham print designs, so your wrap and nappy can be perfectly co-ordinated. At £7.50 per nappy and £7.50 per wrap even the mid-range price is simple!
Motherease. In my opinion it
is hard to beat a Motherease Wrap. Made from breathable PUL there are
five sizes in each of the two versions, - popper fastening and Aplix fastening.
The Air Rikki (Aplix) version is gusseted so not only can it fit snugly
round a flat nappy, it can also accommodate the larger shaped nappies.
The Air Flow (Popper) is a great design. It has a puffy look as air can
flow through the vents either side of the wrap allowing moisture to evaporate,
but the generous fit ensures that the nappy is shielded from baby’s clothes
at all times. The wraps retail at £7.99, but well worth it, as the wrap
is the last line of defence between that explosive poo and your baby’s
clothes.
The Motherease One-Size and multifit nappies are a good birth to potty
choice. Their design means that they are more slimline than other BTP
nappies, yet can be boosted for those heavy wetting older babies. From
£7.50 these are very well priced.
The All In One is convenience itself! As its name suggests the wrap and
nappy is all in one. The popper fastening means that you can adjust the
waist and leg independently, but at £11.99 it is a more expensive option.
